I may be a little too late but guess what, I decided to enter THE zone. And I don’t think I’d ever get out.
I only learned about this group in the last quarter of 2021 and the very first song I heard of them was MAPA. I remember that night. It was my mother’s birthday and I’m supposed to be there, but couldn’t. I cried so hard. And this song, sent by my brother, comforted me until I fell asleep.
My next big question, “Who sang my comfort song?” I did my research and went to youtube and let myself be consumed. SB19. It took me a few weeks of listening to the rest of their songs, a handful of ‘Showbreak’ episodes, random reaction and fanmade videos before this growing fondness finally snuck up on me.
I have fallen in love with SB19. But more than anything that meets the eye and pleases the ear, it is that invisible string of connection that pulled me in. It is every member’s heart and their story.
1. Pablo
This guy doesn’t need an introduction at all. Just by looking at him, you know he is the leader of the pack. What I like best about him, though, is his unbothered stance. He just doesn’t care. This mentality is hard to master but he carries it so well. His confidence in being himself is a testament of the years he worked on to be in his shoes today. THE PABLO. I wish I could dive into his brilliant mind and swim into his ocean. Can anyone tell me his IQ level? Masterpiece after masterpiece. His lyricism is a league of its own. You know he didn’t come to play. He is here to win.
And oh, I love his laugh. He is so beautiful.
2. Josh
This fellow doesn’t only exude oozing charisma, but boy is he armed with eloquence, wisdom and maturity cemented by his past life experiences. Behind his seemingly maangas exterior, lies a soft-hearted boy who went through the lowest of lows but chose to rise above them and is winning. I admire how he talks openly about mental health and his personal struggles. That isn’t easy, my friends. He isn’t just an idol, but a role model as well. (Yes, a great one at that!) And should I mention his dancing and rapping skills? He is a great storyteller too!
To be blunt, he is the most handsome among the five. At least for me.
3. Stell
See that beautiful, warm smile? It makes you wish to have a friend like him. His heart is so pure and genuine that it radiates and makes you strive to be a better person too. Known as the ,heavenly voice’, no one can contest his natural God-given gift. Also, he has the most colorful personality in the group that complements any mood. His humor is gold. He would make you laugh until your stomach hurts and love him more for that. But I should say, I admire him most for showing his vulnerability. It is not a shame to wear your heart on your sleeve, or cry when you’re sad, or happy. The world needs more people like Stell. We all need a sunshine in our life.
P.S, I love how he takes care of himself.
4. Ken
How do I even begin? His presence is enough to make your head do a 360 degree turn. His fashion, unmatched dancing skills and musical talent already speak for himself that he doesn’t even need to utter a word. My bias. You might ask me why. I could only smile and sigh. I don’t exactly know what it is in him. But he won my heart. Ken seems hard to love but his peculiarity makes him irresistible. He stays true to himself and stands out effortlessly. I like that he isn’t afraid to explore. He’s got guts. This guy sure knows what he wants. Well, if you are born with it, then you have every right to flaunt it. It isn’t being mayabang. Guts.
And yes, he doesn’t let his past define him. He is stronger than his unspoken battles.
5. Justin
It is clear as day that such visual would make your insides do some crazy gymnastics. The youngest, most playful AND funniest member of the group. But more than being an eye candy, he is a creative engine. His artistic touch in the things that he creates goes beyond performing. He paints, does digital art and man, I can go and on. He has the lightest aura among the boys. A sweet son and a caring friend. When he laughs, you laugh too. It is so easy to fall for him. Most of all, he has my respect for the dedication he shows for the craft he had chosen. I cannot wait to witness him grow more. This guy’s imagination is his limit.
If you read this until this point, you’re right. These 5 guys are the very reason why I stan SB19. I’d like to believe they are destined to be with each other. The harmony they effortlessly execute in singing and the unanimity when they dance is proof of their authentic relationship. I cannot imagine SB19 any other way. Let’s hold on to them. Mahalima 💙
